Aesthetics of Africa

Part of the Aesthetics of Africa Exhibition commissioned by Derby Museum and Art Gallery, these sculptures were inspired by the museum’s collection of Yoruba Ibeji African figures.  The wooden figures represent the spiritual energy of a deceased twin.  This series of sculptures draws on symbolism, myth and Christine’s own experience of being a mother of twins.
